WE ARE THE BEST COMPANY EVER!
Trading as More Wear Manufacturing was founded in 2016, by ex-More Wear Industries Employees, who recognized the opportunity of satisfying the market demand for
a variety of fabricated products in the Southern African Sub-continent after the liquidation of GULLIVER CONSOLIDATED LIMITED. The country’s infrastructure was developing fast in these past years, as was the need for transport and equipment to move an ever-increasing volume of agricultural and mineral products and materials to various sites. Thus road trailers became and still are a major feature of More Wear Manufacturer’s product portfolio. In the 1960’s the experience and know-how gained in heavy haul trailer construction was adapted with the active support of the Railways to initiate the fabrication of freight wagons and subsequent coaching stock.
In addition the company expanded its product range to include tippers, dumpers, and related material handling equipment. More Wear developed and supplied Granby Cars and Coco Pans for underground mining. The growing needs of this country’s mining sector prompted More Wear to manufacture a variety of equipment to suit these needs.
The early Seventies saw rapid expansion in the fields of large and small bore pipe manufacture, acquisition of a major structural steel engineering company and the establishment of a machineshop at More Wear.
Investment was made in a vehicle axle and suspension manufacturing company, which also machined and fitted hydraulic rams to various of More Wear’s lifting equipment products. Finally, a substantial specialization in pressure vessel manufacture and involvement in virtually all of Zimbabwe’s major industrial and infrastructural developments established More Wear as a leader in the field of heavy engineering. In the 1980’s the advent of independence and the creating of regional groupings such as the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC) now SADC and the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) allowed More Wear to move into servicing numerous export markets with its wide variety of products.
Apex Corporation of Zimbabwe bought More Wear holdings in 1994, leading to the de-listing of More Wear Holdings on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, and incorporation into Apex Corporation of Zimbabwe, which was listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. More Wear Industries rapidly expanded by increasing market share of its traditional products, both local and export. It diversified its product range and a special projects department was established for research and development. More Wear constantly invested substantial capital in new technology to improve production efficiencies.
More Wear was ISO-9001 certified by TUV Rheinland of North America and moved to a new certifying body, Africert (Pvt) Ltd since reaccreditation to ISO9001 : 2000 in April 2003 More Wear Industries was accredited with ISO 9001 Certification in 1998. The principal factor in the performance of our organization has been the quality of our products and services. The driving force behind the maintenance of this system is the overall commitment from all levels within the organization. The Quality Assurance Department is in place to ensure that the system is running at its optimum and that all activities being carried out are in accordance with laid down procedures.
